Think before you post - Ad Council commercial
Published April 6th, 2007 in Advert, Campaigns, Commercials, Services, Social, TV, Video, WebCommercial from Ad Council aiming to warn people about the danger of sharing personal content online.
The Ad Council partners with the U.S. Department of Justice and National Center for Missing & Exploited Children® to Prevent Online Sexual Exploitation
New PSA campaign educates teenage girls about potential dangers of sharing and posting personal information online.
Popular social networking sites such as MySpace, Facebook, and Sconex make it easier for teens to post and share personal information, pictures and videos, which may make them more vulnerable to online predators. Teenage girls are particularly at risk of online sexual exploitation—a recent study by University of New Hampshire researchers for NCMEC found that of the approximately one in seven youth who received a sexual solicitation or approach over the Internet, 70 percent were girls.

I am a teacher and would love to use these videos with my students. However, You Tube is blocked by our firewall, which I would guess by most schools. Is there any way to get a copy of these videos to use each year to educate our students on what is and is not okay to post of the internet? Maybe a CD or post on a different site?
Thank you for providing us teachers with some tools that allow our students to really see what the consequences are for posting personal information.

Yes, you can always use the Dailymotion version. If the link is not working, then go to dailymotion.com and search for “Think before you post” clip.
Thanks a lot for you visit. That gives me more reasons to post this kind of materials.
I’m a busy PTA mom and would love to acquire this on a dvd that could be shown in the schools during the morning announcements. Is there any way that this could be purchased? Thanks so much, it’s pretty powerful stuff.

Ad Council has made this commercial…. so I`m not sure if or how you ca buy it.
I believe a email to Ad Council will solve your problem.
And as I see on their sites they have many other educational campaigns…so you should find more answers if you talk to them.
Many thanks for your comment on this blog.
