Published February 12th, 2008 in Accessories, Advert, Campaigns, Commercials, Entertainment, Fashion, Sport, TVHere is the Adidas brand history and his inventor Adolf Dassler.
Adidas, originally called “Gebrüder Dassler Schuhfabrik” was founded by Adolf Dassler [aka Adi] at the beginning of the 1920’s with the help of his brother Rudolf Dassler, who by personal differences with Adolf Dassler founded Puma AG in 1948. As a result, Adolf Dassler took control of the company and decided to rename the signing as “adidas”, which was legally registered on August 18, 1949, under the name of Adidas AG. The company name comes from the name of its founder, “Adi” is short for Adolf, and “das” the first syllable of the surname.
More and more brands are promoting their history using Tv spots, but this is a huge branding success, a branding mythology around Adidas.
There is also a microsite tells the story of Adi Dassler, the man behind Adidas.
